I <3 Dockers Diner
Dockers Diner (1869 Powell St) is in an area of Vancouver more known for the stench emanating from the nearby chicken factory than for its restaurants. In fact, if you were to ask me if there were any restaurants in the area, my response would have been a resounding “HELL NO!”. Luckily Ghettobreakfastclub.com member GrilledCheese ran across pictures of this quaint little place nestled within this area and decided to enter it on Ghettobreakfastclub.com’s first ever vote-a-thon. Unfortunately, it placed second slightly behind Smile Cafe.
Dockers Diner is definitely one of the must-see diners of Vancouver. The bright yellow store front and the stylish neon pink chairs are inviting and will definitely put one at ease. Upon entry you are greeted by a bright pink stuffed My Little Ponie knock-off. The decor I thought best represents a diner from days gone by. I would place the look to the 60’s - or even older. The walls are littered with old pictures of Vancouver which provided for great breakfast conversation.
The waitresses were funny, the service was great and the food impeccable. Meals were priced well and on average you’re looking at paying less than $6.00 for your breakfast. Orders this time around included:
- 2 eggs any style, toast, hash browns and your choice of bacon, ham or sausage.
- Benny’s
- Grilled cheese and fries
- Omlettes
The coffee was great; the grilled cheese came with a generous serving of crinkle cut fries; the eggs were made perfectly and the hash browns - tasty. The only complaint we had were that the benny’s were not up to snuff. This lone voice of dissension claimed that “Hollandaise sauce isn’t supposed to be white and tasteless” (It should be noted though that this person was suffering from a serious hangover which most likely affected their taste buds).
Although we were apprehensive due to our last group outing, we were glad we made the trek. Dockers Diner provided the perfect beginning to a day that ended at the beach. We highly recommend this diner to anyone.

Good review! You are correct — vodka & sugary orange slices have been proven to affect the ability to detect food flavors.

p.s. - the my little pony photo you posted looks slightly different than the one at the diner.

I am disappointed to miss yet another good breakfast club morning. Particularly, since Docker’s Diner was one of the locations I had voted for. They even served a Benny? Luckily, they serve breakfast all day, so I can take a non-GBC trip to Docker’s any time.
