With South East False Creek being marketed to the world as Vancouver’s next Yaletown, it won’t be long before Laura’s Coffee Shop is a thing of the past. This is a shame really. From the moment I stepped into Laura’s I felt I was taken back in time. With the Rockwell-esque pictures on the wall to the gingham half curtains, Laura’s is a worthwhile trip to be made.

Unlike other restaurants pretending to be old, Laura’s is the real deal. It’s almost like the owners pulled a Rip Van Winkle and slept through the 70s, 80s, 90s and are probably still sleeping through today. Receipts are hand written, poached eggs are skillfully cooked in the style of yesteryear and the prices all create a feeling of not being in 2008.

Enclosed within each table, the menus were easy to navigate and the selection excellent. Food choices were the basics - you won’t find any benny’s, belgian waffles or any other fancy breakfast you may be used to. Laura’s is all about good old fashioned food cooked momma style.

Comments on the food from the reviewers in attendance included:

All in all Laura’s Coffee Shop offered a great experience and we are happy to give it our highest ranking yet:
