And now from our Washington Correspondent.
June 20, 2008
It’s Sunday, 8AM: the jäger bombs are wearing off, your neighbours with the holes in the front door are screaming at each other, there’s police everywhere because a Safeway security guard just got brutally stabbed on the sidewalk across the street.
It’s time for tacos.
Or is it tamales oaxacaqueños? Or maybe it’s tlacoyos or huaraches or chilaquiles verdes – it doesn’t matter because Super Tacos and Bakery is just around the corner, and they got what you need: autentica comida mexicana. No comprende? That means authentic mexican food.
Nestled between Salvador Travel and O’Tasty Chinese Food in Adams Morgan DC, this tiny shop’s cordiality is no less Mexican than its menu thanks to the warm and friendly staff. And while you wait, you’re forced to resist cabinets full of cakes, pies, flans, vats of spicy salsas, and (occasionally) a toothless guy off the street selling jewelry from a box kept under his coat (for real). If your order
exceeds $10, you get free delivery, but this doesn’t apply to you because two cow tounge tacos and a slice of 3 leches cake costs only $8.25 (but it’s Sunday, so get pozole).
And the food? Que Sabrosa
Super Tacos and Bakery is located at 1762 Columbia Road NW, Washington, DC and it’s open from 8am every day.
